Explanation of Edit Decision List Labels
Segment -
a portion of the video that is to be included in edited tape or DVD that
may contain more than one
scene.
Scene - a
continuous portion of video where camera was not stopped during recording.
The same location or
action may have many different scenes.
Segment Order - If the segments are not to be
copied in the same sequence as they appear currently,
indicate by numbering the
segments in the order they are to appear.
If the sequence does not change, leave this column blank.
Start Time
- Time indicated by real time counter at beginning of segment to be
included in
edited tape or DVD.
Start of Scene- Check box to indicate that the
segment starts at beginning of a
scene. Leave blank if segment does
not start at beginning of scene.
Video or Audio Cue - Describe the visual scene,
such as people, location, action,
and/or the words spoken or music played at beginning of segment.
End Time – Time indicated by real time counter at
end of segment to be
included in edited tape or DVD
End of Scene – Check box to indicate that the
segment finishes at end of scene.
Leave blank if segment does not finish at end scene.
Video or Audio Cue - Describe the visual scene,
such as people, location, action,
and/or the words spoken or music played at end of segment.
Segment Length (optional) - Length of segment, in
minutes and seconds.
Elapsed Time (optional) - Total running time from
beginning of first segment to end
of current segment.
